ThirdEyeGen Awarded Contract for GRIP Platform
ThirdEyeGen, Inc., a developer of augmented reality and mixed reality hardware and software for government and enterprise deployment, has announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Department of War to develop the Gesture-Recognition Interface Platform, known as GRIP. The programme concerns the development of a universal input system intended for operators interacting with digital systems in mission-critical environments.
According to the company, GRIP is a microgesture-based control platform created to enable instant interaction with digital applications without touchscreens, voice commands, or traditional handheld controllers. ThirdEyeGen stated that the system is intended for use in complex, high-intensity operational situations where customary interfaces may be ineffective.
The company asserted that the platform is intended to allow users to preserve operational posture and situational awareness while controlling digital systems. ThirdEyeGen said the system is intended for situations in which visibility, mobility, or communication restrictions limit the use of conventional input methods.
ThirdEyeGen stated that GRIP has been engineered as a compact wearable device that functions as a standard Human Interface Device. According to the company, the design enables plug-and-play compatibility alongside existing software ecosystems without the need for additional integration or customisation.
The company announced that the platform architecture is intended to reduce deployment friction and support adoption throughout defence and enterprise applications. ThirdEyeGen said the programme will focus on advancing the system from the prototype stage to a field-ready platform capable of supporting operational requirements in practical-world conditions.
According to the company, the system is designed to support hands-free control while permitting continuous interaction with digital systems during operational tasks. ThirdEyeGen stated that the platform is intended to support operational capability and safety in difficult environments by reducing interruptions during system interaction.
The company announced that GRIP is designed as a flexible dual-use platform with possible applications beyond defence operations. According to ThirdEyeGen, the system may also be used in manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and emergency response settings.
ThirdEyeGen stated that its commercialisation strategy comprises initial deployment through defence programmes, followed by expansion into enterprise workflows and broader commercial markets. The company did not offer additional details regarding deployment timetables or programme duration.
The contract award relates to the company’s work in augmented reality and mixed reality technologies for government and enterprise use. ThirdEyeGen stated that the GRIP platform is being developed to support digital interaction in places where customary interface methods may be limited.
