Kopin to Expand First-Person Viewer Line-up at AUSA 2026

Kopin Corporation will introduce an expanded range of first-person viewer optical module concepts at the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) in Washington, DC. The demonstrations will take place in a private meeting suite from 12 to 14 October 2026.

Kopin provides application-specific optical systems and high-performance microdisplays for defence, training, enterprise, industrial, consumer and medical products. At AUSA 2026, the company will present augmented reality (AR) and wearable defence technology concepts to defence leaders, programme managers, integrators and partners. The demonstrations will include US-made microdisplay technologies, ruggedised optical systems and tools designed to support soldiers’ situational awareness.

The demonstrations will feature the Sentinel-FPV first-person viewer concept, advanced MicroLED and OLED microdisplays, the DarkWAVE heads-up display system, and a wearable AR concept with eye-tracking capabilities.

Sentinel-FPV is a goggle-based concept designed to provide dual situational awareness. According to Kopin, the system will allow military personnel to view real-time drone video while maintaining line-of-sight awareness of their surroundings. Its tactical interface uses display technology designed to deliver high brightness and contrast while consuming little power.

The demonstration will focus on combining drone video access with direct awareness of the surrounding environment. These functions form the central purpose of the first-person viewer concept, which is intended for tactical use.

The MicroLED and OLED systems Kopin will demonstrate are manufactured in the United States. Their stated design aims include stronger brightness, greater resistance to harsh conditions and improved power efficiency for mission-critical use.

Another demonstration will feature DarkWAVE, Kopin’s full-colour, see-through heads-up display system. The product is designed for daytime and night-time viewing and is intended for AR-enabled defence applications. Kopin will present hardware and software enhancements designed to improve reliability in field use.

The company will also demonstrate a next-generation wearable AR concept incorporating eye-tracking capabilities. The system is designed to support situational awareness, decision-making and hands-free human-system integration. These are the concept’s stated functions and part of Kopin’s wider presentation of wearable defence technologies.

The demonstrations will be available in Kopin’s private meeting suite by appointment only. Defence representatives, programme managers, integrators and partners seeking a confidential briefing or hands-on demonstration can contact LSafran@kopin.com to arrange a meeting during the event.
