Nationwide Platforms Uses VR Training to Make Things Safer
Nationwide Platforms, a well-known leader in at-height safety solutions, has added a cutting-edge virtual reality (VR) training system to its business. This is meant to improve safety and operating skills in the flight industry and beyond. This state-of-the-art VR technology is meant to improve operator skills in the dangerous environments of airports and aviation repair, making it easier for pros to do complicated jobs around expensive aeroplanes in a safe and effective way.
Mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) are being used more and more for a wide range of maintenance jobs in aircraft. Because of this, there is a greater need for skilled MEWP operators who can safely carry out complicated tasks near valuable plane parts. Nationwide Platforms faces this problem head-on by giving workers VR-based training that lets them improve their skills in a safe, controlled environment.
Serious Industrial Motion Simulations (SIMS) made the MEWP VR Simulator, which is a portable, award-winning solution that can be used on-site for the length of any project with Nationwide Platforms’ aircraft users. This advanced simulator has 23 task-specific scenarios that focus on important parts of aeroplane repair, like getting to the APU bay, the crown and tail, doors, and more.
By modelling these situations, operators can practise difficult moves, like turning MEWPs around the bent surfaces of the wings and tail, which improves their skills for safe and accurate operations. The simulator’s lifelike motion input and real-world machine controls have shown great results, lowering the number of accidents by up to 97%.
The VR trainer is a good way to train because it finds skill holes and makes personalised training suggestions. It tests the skills of new users or helps experienced workers brush up on their knowledge in as little as 30 minutes. The controlled digital environment lets operators practise high-risk moves over and over, which boosts their confidence and gives them the tools they need to deal with the unique challenges of aircraft maintenance.
Matthew Parfitt, Head of Business Development – Aviation at Nationwide Platforms, says that in this day and age, using cutting edge technology is a must for proactive safety. Nationwide Platforms is setting a new standard for safety training in the flight and powered access industries by using tools like the SIMS VR training simulator. This makes sure that every user is ready to do their job effectively and safely.
This new VR training system is an innovative way to teach safety, giving operators the skills they need to do aviation jobs safely and with confidence. This is in line with Nationwide Platforms’ pledge to lead the way in improving safety standards.
