Vivo’s mixed reality headset may launch in 2025
Vivo is getting ready to compete with Apple’s Vision Pro headset, even though the Vision Pro hasn’t sold very well. The company recently announced at an event that it would be releasing a mixed reality (MR) gadget next year. A prototype is set to be shown off in September or October. Vivo said that the new device would have features that would be better than Apple’s Vision Pro. Interestingly, more companies are getting into this new market, especially since some companies have decided to stay out of it.
Even though Apple’s Vision Pro isn’t selling well, it shouldn’t be quickly called a business failure. The headset costs $3499, or you can get it on a 12-month plan for $291.58 a month. This is way too expensive for most people to afford. This price point makes it less appealing because it’s still a niche product that mostly tech fans will want to buy. A lot of people aren’t interested in the Vision Pro yet, but that could change in the next few years. Vivo, on the other hand, seems excited about joining this new market.
Vivo wants to beat the Vision Pro, but it’s important to remember that Apple’s device will have been out for more than 18 months by the time Vivo’s gear comes out. Surpassing an older offering may not necessarily be new. Without a doubt, Vivo is fully committed to this big project; 500 people are working hard to make it happen. Vivo seems sure that MR technology will be useful in the future, even though the Vision Pro is having trouble right now. People may be more interested in the company’s products if it can offer similar or better benefits at a much lower price.
Vivo plans to hold “high-fidelity prototype experiences” in several Chinese towns by the end of 2025. A Vivo executive said that the official release date for the headset is still unknown and will rely on the creation of a strong content environment.
