Vivo Unveils Vision Headset, Signalling Strategic Expansion Beyond Smartphones
Vivo has officially revealed its inaugural mixed reality headset, named vivo Vision, during the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025. This significant development represents the company’s strategic shift beyond its traditional smartphone business, as it ventures into the realms of mixed reality and robotics technology.
The vivo Vision headset, currently in its prototype phase, marks the company’s initial foray into the mixed reality segment. This unveiling was accompanied by the announcement of the newly founded vivo Robotics Lab, highlighting a broader innovation roadmap centred around spatial computing and robotics. With these initiatives, vivo signals its intention to explore emerging technologies that blend physical and digital interactions.
The Vision headset forms part of Vivo’s broader ambition to integrate mixed reality as a key pillar within its future technology ecosystem. Although the company has yet to disclose detailed specifications of the device, the headset is positioned as a complementary tool to its robotics development strategy. In a keynote address delivered during the forum, Hu Baishan, Executive Vice President and COO, emphasised that while artificial intelligence and robotics have advanced significantly, the convergence between digital and physical systems remains incomplete. Vivo’s integrated technological approach is further supported by its global R&D network, which includes seven dedicated research centres and a manufacturing capacity nearing 200 million units annually.
