Star Wars Reveals Sebulba’s Exciting New Adventure
Star Wars Brings Back Fan-Favourite Sebulba in New Mixed Reality Adventure

Star Wars has officially revealed that Sebulba, one of the most memorable characters from the prequel trilogy, is set to return in a brand-new mixed reality experience titled Star Wars: Beyond Victory—A Mixed Reality Playset.

Over the years, the Star Wars universe has developed a strong reputation for reviving beloved characters from its past, allowing fans to reconnect with old favourites in fresh, imaginative ways. This trend will continue shortly, as characters from Star Wars: Rogue One, such as Forest Whitaker’s portrayal of Saw Gerrera, will soon appear in Andor Season 2.

However, the reappearance of classic characters isn’t limited to films and TV shows alone. Star Wars has consistently expanded its character reach through various media, including comics, animations, and immersive experiences at Disney theme parks.

As part of a larger announcement for Star Wars: Beyond Victory—A Mixed Reality Playset, it was confirmed by StarWars.com that Sebulba, the infamous podracing villain from The Phantom Menace, will feature prominently. The upcoming mixed reality title is currently under development for the Meta Quest 3 and 3S headsets, offering an engaging and interactive gaming experience for fans.

In Star Wars: Beyond Victory, players will encounter a new character named Volo Bolus, who teams up with the iconic Sebulba in a captivating storyline filled with action and adventure. The experience, described as electrifying and engine-thumping, is set around the timeframe of Solo: A Star Wars Story and promises a variety of unique gameplay modes designed to immerse fans fully in the Star Wars universe.

Sebulba first captured audiences’ attention in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, where he was introduced as the ruthless Dug podracer and primary rival to the young Anakin Skywalker. Sebulba’s fierce competitiveness and underhanded tactics made him one of the most recognisable villains in the prequel trilogy. His intense rivalry with Anakin culminated in the legendary Boonta Eve Classic, where Anakin defeated Sebulba, securing his freedom and laying the groundwork for the broader narrative of Star Wars.

Fans attending the upcoming Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo, Japan, will get the first opportunity to experience a sneak preview of Beyond Victory. This hands-on showcase is expected to generate significant excitement, offering attendees a taste of what Sebulba’s return has in store.

To further enrich the experience, fans will also get an early narrative preview of the game’s storyline through an upcoming Marvel comic authored by Ethan Sacks. This comic will delve into how Sebulba becomes involved with Volo Bolus, providing crucial backstory ahead of the game’s official launch.

Sebulba’s comeback may surprise some, considering he has rarely been featured prominently since his original appearance. Although the character has popped up periodically in smaller roles, Sebulba has mostly remained on the sidelines of the Star Wars franchise. Sharp-eyed fans may recall his indirect appearances, such as background cameos on posters in the popular animated series Clone Wars, though these minor roles contributed little to his overall story arc.

Since his defeat at the hands of Anakin Skywalker, Sebulba continued racing across various galactic circuits, notably appearing again in the Star Wars Adventures comics in 2017. In that narrative, set after the fall of the Empire, Sebulba joined forces with legendary character Lando Calrissian. Struggling under heavy debt to the notorious Hutts, Sebulba teamed up with Lando in a daring battle race, successfully taking on a massive Imperial Star Destroyer and securing a rare victory against remnants of the fallen Empire.

Apart from his initial appearance in The Phantom Menace and the mentioned comic series, Sebulba’s personal narrative remains largely unexplored. Thankfully, the release of Star Wars: Beyond Victory, which takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, will provide fans with new insight into another fascinating chapter of Sebulba’s adventurous life.

In the meantime, fans eager for additional Star Wars content featuring beloved returning characters should remember that Andor Season 2 premieres exclusively on Disney+ on Tuesday, 22 April.
