Signature Care Langwarrin Wins SilVR Impact Excellence Award
SilVR Impact Excellence Award Goes to Signature Care Langwarrin for VR Efforts

The creative use of virtual reality (VR) technology by Signature Care Langwarrin to enhance the lives of residents has earned them the SilVR Impact Excellence Award. This award is given annually to celebrate outstanding aged care providers in Australia and New Zealand. The transforming potential of virtual reality in elderly care settings was highlighted by this prize, which garnered multiple personal testimonies from different care teams.

When it came to incorporating virtual reality into regular care procedures, Signature Care Langwarrin stood out for its caring attitude. Residents’ everyday lives were transformed by the introduction of SilVR Adventures VR headgear, which brought them joy, comfort, and adventure. Residents, family, and care staff have raved about the virtual reality technology, demonstrating its huge influence on the institution.

Signature Care Langwarrin’s nomination contained several heartfelt anecdotes.

The Banksia Memory Support Wing resident Lee utilises virtual reality to go back to his boyhood home in England. He finds solace and a profound sense of belonging in his past through these virtual travels that take him back to precious memories. He mentioned that these encounters felt like going home, which shows how VR had an emotional impact on him.

Another local, Eva, used virtual reality to finally visit Paris, a destination that had long been on her bucket list. With the help of the wellness professionals, she was able to digitally see the Eiffel Tower, which restored her spirit and filled her with happiness.

Virtual reality gave Acacia Wing resident Bill a fresh start. He showed how these excursions rekindled his joy and curiosity by excitedly requesting a virtual roller coaster ride after a fantastic virtual skydiving session.

Signature Care Langwarrin hosted a virtual reality (VR) experience for NAIDOC Week that transported participants to the Australian outback via song. Eucalyptus branches and traditional objects provided a sensory boost to the program, making it a more immersive and meaningful experience for residents to learn about Australia’s history and culture. Virtual reality’s ability to create profound emotional and cultural bonds was on full display during this immersive experience, which drove the locals to tears.

The carers at Signature Care Langwarrin may now have their own adventures thanks to $2,000 worth of Flight Centre vouchers that were given to the Wellbeing team as a token of appreciation for all their hard work.
