KFSHRC Trains Medical Professionals with VR Technology
King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC) was one of the first places to use virtual reality technology. They did this by creating cutting-edge training courses that mirror real-life clinical situations. These programmes train healthcare practitioners to handle a range of medical circumstances and assist them in developing advanced practical skills.
In its capacity as a Platinum Sponsor at the October 21–23 Global Health Exhibition in Riyadh, KFSHRC provided information about their virtual reality training courses for medical professionals. The hospital emphasised its accomplishment of running the first-ever virtual simulation of a medical case and described the various stages of the program’s execution. The training programmes for physicians, nurses, chemists, clinical dietitians, and lab technicians all make use of these simulations.
Through interactive virtual settings made possible by VR technology, trainers may practise intricate medical procedures and precision surgery without endangering patients. This covers both surgical planning and diagnostics. Physicians may more accurately plan procedures and analyse difficult situations by using three-dimensional patient images. In a variety of settings, trainees are able to interact with simulated cases while getting real-time performance reviews and analysis. Repetition enhances their abilities, broadens their practical experience, and lowers medical mistakes in real-world situations.
Beyond merely improving technical proficiency, virtual reality has several advantages for medical education. Additionally, technology aids in improving communication abilities. Healthcare workers may increase their empathy and response to emotional demands by engaging with virtual patients to have a deeper understanding of their issues.
VR technology has a lot of potential for the future of medical training and education. By enabling training without the need for physical labs, it eases the budgetary burden on healthcare organisations. Multiple medical teams can work together and handle problems in a virtual setting, encouraging a multidisciplinary approach to education. Through this partnership, medical professionals are better able to comprehend the duties and responsibilities of their colleagues in other specialities.
This project is in line with KFSHRC’s strategic goal of becoming a pioneer in research, teaching, and innovation. The hospital still maintains the highest standards for healthcare safety and quality. KFSHRC is a world-renowned provider of specialised healthcare as well as a cutting-edge hub for medical research and teaching.
Notably, for the second year in a row, KFSHRC has been recognised as the Middle East and African region’s premier Academic Medical Centre and the 20th ranked in the globe.
