GridPath chosen to participate in the multi-million dollar STRATFI initiative
A cloud-based extended reality (XR) platform provider, GridRaster Inc. powers augmented, virtual, and mixed reality (AR, VR, and MR) experiences for businesses. The company has announced that the U.S. Air Force has chosen them for its Strategic Financing (STRATFI) programme.
Small enterprises holding a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) contract are eligible to participate in STRATFI. Through financial possibilities, the initiative aims to assist SBIR and STTR ventures in navigating the challenging transition from development to full production. The STRATFI initiative has funding ranging from $3 million to $15 million USD for a maximum 48-month duration of implementation.
In order to provide pilots and commanders real-time insights into their operational environment, GridRaster’s 3D AI extended reality solutions integrate data from several sensors and sources into a single augmented reality display for the U.S. Air Force. According to GridRaster, these augmented displays aid in improving situational awareness and decision-making skills in high-stakes situations by providing sophisticated threat identification, terrain mapping, and navigation support.
The United States Air Force and aerospace companies are reportedly using 3D artificial intelligence XR and MR technology to rethink training, operations, upkeep, and construction. AFWERX, the Department of the Air Force’s innovation arm powered by the Air Force Research Laboratory, and SpaceWERX, the U.S. Space Force’s innovation arm and a distinct component inside AFWERX, jointly released the news. The joint organisations declared the Strategic Funding Increase for Programme Year 2024, a contract award chosen from among its Phase II qualified bidders.
AFWERX and SpaceWERX’s vision to create an environment for innovation that produces disruptive air and space features includes the growth stage investment initiatives, Strategic Funding Increase and Tactical Funding Increase, according to Col. Elliott Leigh, Chief Commercialization Officer, the Department of the Air Force, and Director of AFWERX. The organisation is using substantial financial resources, including both public and private investments, to expedite the development of strategic competencies.
According to Col. Leigh, the STRATFI programme is a testament to the organisation’s dedication to transferring dual-use commercial technologies to Airmen and Guardians. This ensures that military forces are equipped with the newest and most cutting-edge capabilities available in the private sector.
