The Venice Film Festival is once again returning with a stunning collection of genre-defying virtual reality projects, featuring some of the most promising VR creators of today’s time. This year, the organisers of the Venice Film Festival are pushing the boundaries of its Venice VR Expanded to another level by adding more virtual reality experiences to the offering list.

Eplore in person
In this extraordinary presentation, the interested audience can explore in person a host of unforeseen immersive experiences at the VR art gallery in the Sala Amici (reservations required) and the Palazzo del Casinò (Lido di Venezia).

This year, the Venice Film Festival has partnered up with Facebook’s Oculus Quest and HTC’s Viveport. Thanks to this collaboration, attendees this year can also tune in from remote locations via Oculus Quest or PC VR headsets and experience the VR project collection by logging into VRChat. The popular virtual reality social experience platform is offering the users an opportunity where they can explore the virtual custom-made event space, where they can enjoy this year’s VR collections, as well as chat with other festival-goers and participate in various other live events.

Thirty seven immersive projects
2021 Venice VR Expanded is reported to feature a total of 37 immersive projects. The collection includes a host of projects in the following categories:

Venice VRChat World Gallery
Apart from the mentioned VR projects, the current edition of Venice VR Expanded will also feature a brand-new program known as the Venice VRChat World Gallery. This will be composed of 35 custom-made virtual worlds, specifically designed for the VR social platform VRChat. After all, Venice Film Festival is incomplete without its iconic afterparties.

Five live events
In addition to the exciting projects, Venice Film Festival organisers have been said to schedule not one, not two, but five splendid live events to be exclusively conducted in VR. This includes both the opening as well as closing ceremonies. The events will feature live musical concerts, dance parties, guided meditation sessions, and much more. For this offering, Venice VR Extended has joined hands with exciting VRChat club virtual worlds such as Shelter and others to materialise the events.

The organisers reported that accredited members will have access to the entire collection of the immersive content and live events, as well as an opportunity to enter “Meet the Creator” sessions. Apart from the paid entrances, there is also a lot of content and events to be enjoyed completely free of cost.

The presentation will be open for the attended until 11th September 2021.
