LA School District resumes ClassVR agreement with Avantis Education
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) has expanded its partnership with Avantis Education, bringing upwards of 16 thousand ClassVR headsets to students for advanced virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) learning. This collaboration supports LAUSD’s Instructional Technology Initiative, which aims to provide students with engaging, immersive learning experiences that enhance both academic instruction and student engagement.
ClassVR, an immersive learning solution created specifically for K-12 classrooms, offers a comprehensive package that includes all necessary hardware, software, training, and support for seamless VR/AR deployment. As part of the partnership, LAUSD educators have access to ClassVR’s extensive Eduverse library, a digital repository containing hundreds of thousands of VR and AR resources.
Avantis Education has been a valued partner of LAUSD for two years, supplying VR experiences that spark curiosity and promote dynamic learning across the district. Originally introduced to a limited number of schools, ClassVR’s success has led to rapid expansion. Many LAUSD schools now use ClassVR headsets in both classroom settings and extracurricular programmes to create an engaging educational environment. Through virtual reality, students can explore diverse subjects, including history, science, and career and technical education.
The latest extension of this partnership focuses on enrichment programmes both before and after school, with promising opportunities for integration into a wide range of academic areas. This collaboration underscores LAUSD’s commitment to leveraging immersive technology to enhance educational outcomes and establish itself as a leader in educational innovation.
Avantis Education’s CEO, Huw Williams, commended LAUSD’s commitment to pioneering educational technology by prioritising innovative learning tools for students. He expressed pride in supporting the district’s thoughtful and strategic approach to expanding VR technology, aligned with its broader educational vision.
