Try to Escape the Dreaded Notre Dame Fire in this Unique VR Escape Game by Ubisoft

The brand-new VR game offering will function as an official tie-in to an upcoming VR docudrama about the 2019 disaster faced by the historic landmark.

Notre Dame, the cathedral located in Paris, France is one of the most prominent architectures in the world. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It serves as a remnant of medieval history and a glowing example of French Gothic architecture. Until recently, millions of visitors flocked down to Paris every year to see the extraordinary interiors, intricate designs, and marvelous structural expertise achieved by the creators. However, in an unprecedented disaster that took place in 2019, the cathedral collapsed with all its wonders. As a massive fire broke out, it took down the building along with the spier and the roof.

Although it was unfortunate, the event inspired Ubisoft to make an exhilarating VR escape game. The critically acclaimed video game studio, famous for some all-time great titles such as Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, and Prince of Persia, has announced that the company will be partnering with Pathé, a popular film production and distribution company to develop a location-based VR escape game based on the accident in Notre Dame cathedral.

The much-hyped video game will have you play the role of a mighty firefighter, battling to save the historic structure and the people caught amidst the fire. According to reports, the game will be a multiplayer experience spanning roughly 1 hour. It will also have a variety of puzzles that you will have to solve in order to complete the task in cooperation with your teammates.

The VR escape game, as per the official reports, will serve as an official tie-in to the upcoming IMAX docudrama, Notre Dame on Fire, to be released in March 2022. The docudrama, based on the harrowing events of the Notre Dame fire, is written, directed, and produced by Jean-Jacques Annaud, the renowned French filmmaker, screenwriter, and producer revered for his past creations such as The Name of the Rose, Quest for Fire, The Lover, Enemy at the Gates, Seven Years in Tibet, Black Gold, and so on. Annaud has also received several prestigious awards throughout his lifetime, including the National Academy of Cinema Award and Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Ubisoft’s new game will put the players in the shoes of a Parisian firefighter who struggled heroically to save the cathedral with his team. However, rather than being a simple action-packed experience, it is going to be an exciting escape adventure filled with twists and turns. Like popular escape games, it will present a host of puzzles that need to be solved in order for the players to move forward in the game. Besides, they will have to work as a team to help the brigade escape the fire unscathed. To make things even more exciting, all these hurdles are to be overcome before the clock runs out.

The VR escape game will launch in March 2022 simultaneously with the premiere of the film.
