Proteus Labs Joins Avantis Education’s ClassVR Platform

Proteus Labs Joins Avantis Education’s ClassVR Platform
Proteus Labs Adds Mixed Reality Science to ClassVR

Proteus Labs, a Montreal-based developer of augmented and virtual reality educational software for K–12 science learning, has announced that Avantis Education selected its mixed reality science laboratory application for the ClassVR Xcelerate headset and new EduverseSTEM platform.

The integration brings Proteus Labs’ virtual science experiments to Avantis Education’s global network of more than two million students in over 200,000 classrooms across 90 countries. The partnership places the Proteus Labs application within Avantis Education’s existing immersive learning technology offering for schools.

Proteus Labs’ platform provides a virtual science laboratory where students can carry out hands-on experiments covering chemistry, physics, biology, electricity and general science. The experiences can be delivered through either augmented reality or virtual reality.

The platform is available in 10 languages, and its modules comply with recognised educational standards. Its learning approach is based on experimentation, allowing students to explore scientific activities, make mistakes and repeat experiments as needed.

The mixed reality laboratory is now integrated into EduverseSTEM, Avantis Education’s science, technology, engineering and mathematics education suite. EduverseSTEM brings together content from Avantis Education and other STEM technology providers, now including Proteus Labs’ virtual laboratories within the same offering.

Avantis Education provides the ClassVR virtual reality platform for classroom use. ClassVR combines hardware, software, content and educational resources for schools. The integration adds Proteus Labs’ science laboratory experiences to that wider classroom environment through the ClassVR Xcelerate headset and EduverseSTEM platform.

Schools using EduverseSTEM can access the Proteus Labs virtual laboratories alongside content from Avantis Education and other STEM technology providers under a single subscription. This gives schools access to mixed-reality science experiments without the cost, safety considerations, or physical infrastructure associated with traditional laboratory facilities.

The virtual laboratories cover multiple areas of science within a single platform. Chemistry, physics, biology, electricity and general science are all included, while students can access experiments through augmented or virtual reality. The combination of subject coverage and experimentation is intended to give students opportunities to repeat science activities in a virtual environment.

Proteus Labs has positioned the virtual experiences as a way for students to gain practice with experimentation before entering a physical laboratory, as well as alongside traditional laboratory experiences. The company’s contribution to EduverseSTEM therefore extends beyond adding individual science activities, bringing a broader virtual laboratory environment into the STEM education suite.

The partnership also expands the range of immersive educational content available through Avantis Education. The Proteus Labs modules combine hands-on experimentation with AR and VR delivery and are supported in 10 languages. Their alignment with recognised educational standards is another component of the content now available through EduverseSTEM.

For Avantis Education, the integration adds Proteus Labs’ science experiences to a platform that already combines classroom hardware, software and educational resources. Proteus Labs’ virtual laboratories can therefore be accessed alongside other STEM content rather than being presented as a separate component of the wider EduverseSTEM offering.

Proteus Labs executive vice president Yanick Beaulieu linked the partnership to broader access to science education and opportunities for students to explore and practise experiments. The company’s position is that virtual experiences can support students before they enter a physical laboratory and can also be used alongside conventional laboratory work.

Avantis Education’s head of education, Simon Bradshaw, similarly associated the integration with exploration, experimentation and hands-on learning. The company described adding Proteus Labs’ experiences as an expansion of how instructors can use the ClassVR and EduverseSTEM environment to support student learning.

Adding Proteus Labs to EduverseSTEM gives participating schools access to its mixed reality science laboratory as part of the wider STEM content available through Avantis Education. The application includes experiments in several scientific disciplines, supports both augmented and virtual reality, is available in 10 languages and uses modules aligned with recognised educational standards.

The partnership consequently links Proteus Labs’ virtual science laboratory with Avantis Education’s ClassVR technology and EduverseSTEM platform. Schools within Avantis Education’s network can access the experiments through the broader subscription offering, extending the range of science activities available through the classroom-focused immersive learning system.
