Xreal Introduces xbx a01 Budget XR Glasses
Xreal has announced a new budget XR smart glasses range under its xbx sub-brand, beginning with the launch of the xbx a01. The company said the new model will first be released in China before arriving in the United States in July.
The xbx name stands for “X by Xreal” and has been introduced as a separate branding line for future smart glasses products. The a01 becomes the first device to launch under the new label.
The company’s latest release marks a lower-cost alternative to its existing XR products. Xreal’s One Pro glasses launched at $649, while the new xbx a01 will be priced at $299.
The xbx a01 features a 1600-nit HDR10 display. HDR10 support has become increasingly common in XR smart glasses and is intended to improve colour vibrancy and image presentation when compatible content is viewed.
The brightness level of the xbx a01 exceeds that of the RayNeo Air 4 Pro, another lower-cost XR glasses model that launched earlier this year with a 1200-nit HDR10 display. The RayNeo device was among the first budget XR smart glasses to support HDR10.
Xreal has also included a new anti-shake algorithm in the xbx a01. The feature has been designed for use while travelling, including during commutes, flights and underground rail journeys. The system is intended to reduce the movement of the displayed image during motion while maintaining image clarity.
The glasses feature interchangeable front frames, allowing users to switch between different styles and lens options. According to the company, the interchangeable fronts can also support different viewing conditions, including the use of darker lenses in brighter environments.
The xbx a01 weighs 62 grams. The lighter build is intended to improve comfort during extended use.
The launch expands Xreal’s presence in the lower-priced XR smart glasses segment, where manufacturers have increasingly introduced products focused on entertainment and wearable display functions at reduced prices.
The xbx a01 announcement follows the company’s recent focus on premium XR glasses products. The One Pro model became one of Xreal’s higher-priced consumer devices, with the new xbx range positioned at a substantially lower entry cost.
The introduction of interchangeable frame fronts also reflects a growing emphasis on design flexibility in the smart glasses sector. Manufacturers have increasingly explored ways to offer different styles and lens options without requiring separate devices.
Xreal’s anti-shake feature is designed to improve viewing stability during movement. XR glasses can experience visible display motion when used on public transport or during travel, particularly in situations involving vibration or sudden movement. The company said the system attempts to stabilise the image while preserving visual quality.
The xbx a01’s display brightness forms another major part of the launch. Higher brightness levels can improve image visibility and clarity in bright surroundings, while HDR10 support enhances colour depth and contrast in supported media content.
The company has not announced additional products in the xbx range, though the branding has been presented as a broader sub-brand rather than a single-device release.
The new model also arrives as smart glasses companies continue to place greater emphasis on wearable comfort and appearance alongside display performance. Interchangeable frame designs are one way to let users change the look of devices for different settings and conditions.
The xbx a01 is expected to launch first in China before becoming available in the United States in July. No further regional launch information has been announced.
