Qualcomm and Manchester United enhance shirt partnership with AR
The shirt sponsorship between Qualcomm Technologies and Manchester United has been extended, with one additional year until 2029. This comes after all the versions of their 2024–2025 jerseys were introduced. The home jersey included the Snapdragon branding on the chest for the very first time. More than three billion devices globally are powered by Snapdragon, the consumer-facing brand of Qualcomm Technologies’ processors. These products include desktops, laptops, mobile phones, wearable technology, gaming consoles, PCs, VR and XR glasses, and automobiles.
More than two billion digital media engagements have been generated by material using the Snapdragon branding since the unveiling of the new shirts—more than any other commercial partner launch in Manchester United’s past. The Snapdragon-branded t-shirts were the first to be released with an augmented reality (AR) feature. Over the course of the season, supporters will be able to virtually enter the Old Trafford field to obtain exclusive Manchester United content by scanning a QR code and the Snapdragon symbol on the chest part of the jersey.
Along with extending their collaboration, Qualcomm Technologies has also reactivated their permit to place a logo on the backside of Manchester United jerseys for the 2024–2025 season and extended their rights to the PC sector. This year’s Women’s Super League games and a few men’s, women’s, and academy matches will include this emblem, which is shown under the player numbers. It was noticed during the latest Community Shield matchup.
Manchester United’s CEO, Omar Berrada, praised the relationship between Snapdragon and his team, noting that it has resulted in unparalleled jersey launches and an enlightening tour of Qualcomm’s offices by senior players and club executives. He said he was proud of the relationship renewal and that it demonstrated their shared goal of developing and thriving in and out of the field. The dedication from Qualcomm demonstrates the close relationship that exists between the two organisations, which should only become stronger as it develops.
The Qualcomm Incorporated Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President, Don McGuire, expressed enthusiasm over the club’s decision to prolong its collaboration with Manchester United and keep the Snapdragon branding visible on the team’s uniforms until 2029. He expressed his excitement about supporting the team in reimagining Old Trafford and Carrington as well as on the field. McGuire showed excitement about incorporating technology vendors into the club ecosystem and putting them on the back side of the jersey to provide Manchester United’s 1.1 billion global supporters with new experiences.
