TMNT Empire City Arrives on Major VR Platforms
A new virtual reality title based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise has been released across several major platforms. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Empire City is now available on Meta Quest, Steam VR and Pico, marking the first time the characters have been presented in a fully immersive VR format.
Developed by Cortopia Studios and published by Beyond Frames Entertainment, the game is structured as a story-driven action-adventure. It supports both solo and optional co-operative multiplayer modes, permitting users to play individually or team up with others to tackle in-game challenges. The title is priced at $24.99 at launch.
The narrative is set in New York City following the defeat of the Shredder, a central antagonist in the series. In the absence of his leadership, multiple factions compete for control. These include Karai, who leads a Japanese branch of the Foot Clan, and Mashima, a mystic figure seeking to restore the influence and power associated with the former leader. The storyline focuses on the resulting power struggle and its impact on the city.
Players move through environments based on New York neighbourhoods, engaging in combat against recognised adversaries from the franchise. Game mechanics allow for multiple approaches, including stealth-based movement or direct, high-intensity combat. The design emphasises player choice, permitting individuals to adopt styles aligned with different characters from the series.
In addition to the standard version, a Digital Deluxe Edition upgrade is available for $4.99. This package includes four alternate character appearances for each of the main protagonists: Mirage, Nostalgia, Owari Masks, and Red Masks. It also provides access to a digital art book and an in-game soundtrack, both available within the game interface.
The release marks an expansion of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles brand into the VR gaming space, adding to its presence across several media.
