Sony and Arvore Announce VR Game Based on The Boys
Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and Brazilian development studio Arvore have revealed their partnership for the first official virtual reality game based on the popular television series The Boys. The announcement arrived shortly after the first trailer for the fifth and final season premiered at CCXP, increasing anticipation around both projects. The new game, The Boys: Trigger Warning, is expected to launch in 2026 and has been created in collaboration with the show’s creators to ensure accuracy and authenticity.
The game allows fans to enter the chaotic and morally complex world portrayed in the series. Original cast members Laz Alonso, Colby Minifie, and P.J. Byrne are set to reprise their roles, while Jensen Ackles will deliver a darker interpretation of Soldier Boy exclusively for the game. The casting aims to maintain the tone of the television series and extend its storytelling into a fresh interactive experience. Players will immerse themselves in a universe where unpredictable violence, satire, and espionage are all part of daily life.
The Boys: Trigger Warning has been designed as a stealth-action VR title, placing players directly on the battlefield in the ongoing struggle against super-powered individuals. Its narrative approach mirrors the vigilante mission led by Billy Butcher throughout the series. An original protagonist has been introduced for the game, beginning with a family outing that spirals into a disturbing discovery involving a secret linked to Vought International. After the incident forces the character to become a Supe, the storyline turns into a revenge-driven infiltration campaign that aligns the player with The Boys. The gameplay will mix stealth mechanics, high-impact combat, and the show’s signature dark humour to create an unpredictable and dramatic experience.
The involvement of the series’ writers and performers has helped shape the project from its earliest stages. The development team aimed to preserve the tone, brutality, and sharp satire that define the television series, while also expanding it into a format that rewards exploration and active decision-making. This partnership seeks to elevate immersive storytelling within the VR medium by combining cinematic world-building with player-controlled action.
Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and Arvore intend to deliver the game through Meta and PlayStation platforms. Early access is being offered through a promotional pre-order price of $23.99 USD on the Meta Quest storefront. Additionally, fans can add the game to their wishlist on the PlayStation Store. The pricing strategy and pre-order availability suggest early enthusiasm, particularly among long-time followers of the franchise and VR enthusiasts interested in narrative-rich titles.
Season five of The Boys is scheduled to arrive on Prime Video on 8 April 2026 with a two-episode premiere. The season will conclude on 20 May, marking the end of the series after a successful multi-season run. The timing of the show’s conclusion alongside the release of the VR game is expected to sustain audience engagement and extend the universe beyond its televised finale. The collaboration between Sony Pictures Virtual Reality, Arvore, and the original creative team signals a growing interest in expanding major entertainment franchises into immersive gaming formats, offering fans new perspectives and deeper emotional involvement through virtual reality.
