TaperedPlus and Alt Labs Collaborate to Use AR in the Roofing Sector
TaperedPlus, a top supplier of insulation and flat roofing mechanisms, is now testing a specially designed augmented reality (AR) technology that might completely change the roofing market. The device allows flat roofs to be scanned with smartphones and tablets, giving quick and very precise measurements. It was created by award-winning technological innovators Alt Labs for TaperedPlus.
This AR solution doesn’t need a large hardware expenditure or costly subscription fees, which may total several thousand pounds per user yearly, unlike many other roofing business apps now in use. The gathered data is instantly uploaded into TaperedPlus’s internal system via Alt Labs technology, which transforms it into comprehensive technical schematics. This technology removes the possibility of human mistake and may be up to 10 times quicker than conventional measuring techniques, especially for intricate flat roof layouts.
Based in Middlesbrough, TaperedPlus expressly sought Alt Labs to provide an approach that would increase productivity. The end product was a bespoke application that makes use of the light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensors found in iPads and iPhones made by Apple. In order to enable the AR system to put markers that indicate crucial places on a roof for exact measurement, these sensors produce light to determine distances for pinpointing objects.
The technology is flexible enough to be used in immersive technologies, such as virtual reality (VR) headsets, in addition to being safe and accessible.
This initiative is a part of TaperedPlus’s larger development plan, which was prompted by the business’s recent £5.5 million financing from equity investor BGF and its achievement of B Corp accreditation, which attests to its commitment to fixing inefficient processes. In a different project, the corporation is working with Teesside University academics to create an AI-driven system that would expedite its technical draughting procedures.
The CEO and co-founder of TaperedPlus, Aman Chahal, expressed his enthusiasm for the corporation’s trailblazing use of cutting-edge technology in the roofing sector. He emphasised how the AR technology will significantly increase productivity and accuracy, allowing the business to provide better customer service and support more environmentally friendly construction methods. According to Chahal, the company’s digital transformation has reached a major turning point with the integration of AI and AR, opening the door for further expansion and innovation.
The CEO of Alt Labs, Imran Anwar, underlined that his company’s unique solution uses state-of-the-art technology to completely change the way that roof inspections are taken and handled, therefore creating new standards for the sector. He pointed out that this technology is a game changer with prospective uses in a variety of industries due to its adaptability and the accuracy provided by LiDAR and augmented reality.
