EssilorLuxottica, a key partner in Meta’s smart glasses initiative, disclosed robust performance during its latest earnings call. The company reported that the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have achieved remarkable sales, surpassing 2 million units since their launch in September 2023.
The company’s financial leadership emphasised that the product’s success is not confined to the U.S. market. In contrast, smart glasses have performed very well in Europe, becoming the best-selling item in 60% of Ray-Ban retailers in the EMEA area. This strong performance in both established and emerging markets has reinforced EssilorLuxottica’s confidence in the product’s appeal. In line with this optimism, the company announced plans to expand its production capacity to 10 million units annually by the end of 2026, primarily by enhancing facilities in China and Southeast Asia.
Meta has also advanced its strategic initiatives by broadening the rollout of its AI framework for the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses across Europe. Following the initial deployment in the United States, Canada, and Australia, the updated integration now serves markets in France, Italy, Ireland, and Spain with support for French, Italian, and Spanish languages. The company has outlined plans for further AI enhancements and additional language integrations across more European countries.
