The world is we know it is no more. It has descended to a state of complete chaos and lawlessness. And this is your chance to get your mask on and fight against hordes of enemies as a mercenary. Is it the way you like it? Then it is the right time to have a blast, only if your mission is going down south. In that case, you will find yourself on the wrong side of the merciless crime lord, the mafia. As you fight alongside your teammates to survive, this is when all hell breaks loose.
This, in a nutshell, is Gambit for you. It is the hottest over-the-top VR shooter game available right now. Developed by a Hungary-based indie dev called X Real Gambit, this game will give you the pulse-racing thrill of reveling the bounty on your head while shooting down enemies as a nameless, faceless hired gun. The game has you band with three other teammates. You can take up any role among the four unstable mercenaries—Cody, Kevin, Frank, and Udo. Each of the characters is adorably crazy in its own special way. And each one of them possesses some unique weapons, skills, and fighting style. They all have their own weaknesses too. Together, you will go about killing the wanted men and at the same time, keep evading the opponent gang.
Gambit is twenty-hour-long story-driven shooter gameplay. It is broken into 9 different levels, through which you must carry out your main mission. However, there are loads of puzzles, mini-games, weapon hunts throughout the levels. As you win them one by one, you will earn hidden rewards, health supplies, intimidating masks, and unlock special weapons to go forward in the game. That’s not all. You can even have a bout of unsavoury, unfiltered conversation with your fellow characters as well.
As you move up the levels, you will be given a new map at the beginning of every chapter. These maps help you to navigate around. You can either play as a team of four partnering with three other players, or you can be a lone wolf and gun down your enemies all on your own.
Gambit promises a thrilling open-world storyline. Thanks to this, the game offers a copious amount of replayability. This means you can play a level multiple times if you fail to clear it in one go. Even if you move forward, you can always come back to your favourite level to play again or shoot a particular target twice in the head. You can even jump into a multiplayer deathmatch in VR if you are looking for a quick game and a rush of adrenaline.
Gambit is perfect for those looking for jumping into VR shooting games for the first time. That being said, it could be pretty challenging at times even for veteran VR gamers. In addition, a killer soundtrack and a global leaderboard help you stay focused on the game.
Given everything goes as planned, we will get Gambit in both PC VR and Meta Quest 2 this coming May 2022.
