Air Commando Training Revolutionised with Virtual Reality Technology

The Integrated Technology Platform team from Air Education and Training Command recently visited Hurlburt Field where they were hosted by the Special Operations Training Group (492d).

ITP personnel went to Hurlburt Field to gain some insight into the Special Operations Wing and Air Force Special Operations Command’s training demands and capabilities, as well as to demonstrate the capabilities of the platform to the wing’s members, including the command team and those who can be end-users.

The Air Force, along with the AFSOC, is proceeding with efforts to turn and pull together towards the Great Power Competition. There has to be a drive by the enterprise to embrace advancement and rock the boat. Charles “CQ” Brown, Jr., Chief of Staff of the Air Force, in his Action Orders, approached the support of “Speed up Change or Lose.” The Integrated Training Platform tackles current Air Force deficiencies whilst holding the capacity to rapidly use innovation to take care of any concerns that may crop up in the future.

According to Master Sergeant. Robyn Pryor, AETC-ITP programme liaison, there are various levels and all involved are trying to enhance outcomes. Pryor said that the process is being streamlined, by giving people information and reducing redundancies, so that individuals do not have to put in additional efforts.

The “I” in ITP represents integrated and this platform consistently incorporates various types of innovation, for example, VR, AR and MR technology, along with machine learning, and associates everything under computerised reasoning.

The end goal of the programme is more than just providing a new avenue for carrying on with work, and it is a step towards contributing to purposeful work to flip the idea of powerful preparation. The idea behind the programme is that things that worked a decade or two ago will not be effective now. There has been a lot of change globally and in the domain of technology. Along with that, the ways in which Air Commandos and Airmen pick up skills have also transformed significantly. The Air Force has to be well equipped to utilising current and future advances to maintain its strength as the leading air power globally.

According to AETC ITP programme supervisor Mr. Masoud Rasti, the efforts being expended have flipped the entire idea of learning. He emphasised that the Airmen are now equipped with technology to achieve better outcomes. As a result, the programme’s creators have to enhance the flow of enthusiasm and data for improving capabilities.

One more key benefit of the ITP programme is the rate at which potential end-clients can distinguish necessities and get arrangements. In the 2022 Action Orders, Gen. Brown has acknowledged the requirement for tackling administration as a Force. The workflow of acquisition has been slow in the past, but with ITP onboard that is changing. Utilising the technology has helped to acquire and consolidate initial contract expenses.

Virtual reality technology has offered simulated environments for optimising resource availability. It also helps to offer ample protection to personnel.
