Meta & BMW Are Advancing VR in Automobiles

Mark Zuckerberg stated recently that Meta along with the BMW Group are working together on a scientific initiative to explore the practical applications of VR and AR in automobiles.

With the help of their collaboration, they’ve been able to develop a mechanism that precisely ties virtual items to the vehicle and incorporates the information gathered by the numerous sensors of a BMW vehicle into the Quest Pro monitoring engine.

Using data from Meta’s Aria experimental spectacles, they were able to take advantage of this approach to precisely attach a simulated object to the vehicle and show how the Meta Quest Pro and innovative tracking technology may be used in vehicles for MR and virtual reality (VR) activities. The position of the automobile needed to be added to the network in order for it to be drawn in a suitable way.

According to Richard Newcombe, Reality Labs Research’s Vice President of Research Science, in a press release that the study’s concept demonstrates the company’s capacity to provide passengers with in-car amusement and relaxation, such as virtual and mixed reality games, recreational activities, efficacy, as well as relaxation.
