Leading VR Fitness App Les Mills to Reveal Major Updates Featuring Martial Arts

Former Olympians’ high-energy VR fitness classes are heading to Meta Quest.

In the last few years, VR fitness has garnered astounding popularity. From personal training to group fitness programs, it offers a wide range of exciting workout regimens for those interested in working out. But when we talk about group fitness, there is hardly any fitness app more popular than Les Mills. Led by former Olympians, it is easily the leading platform with over 140000 certified trainers, helping people with personal fitness in more than 21000 clubs spread across 100 countries. It features some of the biggest names in fitness classes, including Bodyattack, Sh’Bam, RPM, and Les Mills Core. The popular classes focus on sports performance and core tone.

To date, classes at Les Mills are available in-person, through live stream, or through the dedicated streaming platform called Les Mills+. Keeping up with the trend, the fitness class will soon launch its VR version as well. Only last week, the fitness company announced that it has plans to bring one of its most popular high-energy classes in virtual reality and make it available to the public via Meta Quest.

As per reports, the class that will be on VR is one of Les Mills’ most sought-after programs called Bodycombat. Unlike common VR fitness experiences such as BoxVR or Supernatural, this high-energy fitness class features unique workouts inspired by martial arts. More so, it incorporates styles and moves from a wide array of different types of martial arts rather than focusing on just one. You can learn moves from Boxing, Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Capoeira, and Muay Thai here.

In addition to the usual punching, kicking, ducking, and swinging your arms, in this fitness class you will also have to squat and slip to avoid crashing into walls, lay down high-voltage hammer punches, and throw some massive punches to break targets over your head. But the most exciting of all is the knee strikes, which you will need to bring out once or twice to hit some lower-level target. You can do this by grabbing tight your motion controllers and launching ferocious attacks with your knees. It is also a great exercise for your lower body parts.

With Bodycombat in VR, you are basically getting all-inclusive access to a variety of workouts suited for both beginners and skilled fitness freaks. The workout regimens include a wide array of speed workouts, boxing fitness, and workouts for your core, lower body, abs, and more.

Each high-energy fitness class in Les Mills+ VR is available in a choice of 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 55 minutes sessions. They will be guided by legendary Les Mills instructors Rachael Newsham and Dan Cohen. They will lead you and motivate you as you push through each session set in unique environments, such as Rome, Japan, Tundra, Neo City, and Mars. Les Mills plans to add more exciting locations in the future. The fitness class also promises a great soundtrack to keep you hyped up during your workout sessions from artists like Fas Fash, Noam Dee, and many more.

Les Mills will be available on Meta Quest from 3rd February 2022n onwards.
