St. Louis Park, Golden Valley Using AR To Reach Out To Crowds

The area’s attractions may be visited virtually with the help of Virtual Getaway.

Over the past few years, there has been significant growth in the area of augmented reality, also known as AR technology. With the help of this technological advancement, it is now possible to combine computer-generated content with the real world. One of the best-known examples is the “Pokémon Go” application, which went viral several years ago.

However, its application is not limited to the creation of games. It has been revealed that Discover St. Louis Park utilises augmented reality innovation in order to market itself to vacationers.

According to the marketing director of Discover St. Louis Park, Trish Foster, travellers can discover various landmarks and locations in St. Louis Park and Golden Valley via an immersive digital experience. They can then use this experience to be motivated to visit these locations in person.

Foster described the operation of “Virtual Getaway”. At many booths located across the city, users can use an image with a QR code. The location map of St. Louis Park will appear on Instagram if one has been prompted to do so. Then they will be directed via suggestions to an interactive virtual tour of nearby sights.

According to Foster, participants in the augmented reality experience can gain access to content by tapping on virtual objects. He mentioned that one could find some valuables as well as other exciting treats by going around the structure. By entering a one-of-a-kind code that they received at the end of the game into a specialised section of the website, users have the opportunity to receive immediate savings at local establishments.

Discover Adam Turman, St. Louis Park, and the regional technology company REM 5 Studios worked together on its development.

Amir Berenjian serves as the Chief Executive Officer of REM 5. He asserts that in the not-too-distant future, it won’t be necessary for people to pick up a leaflet before entering a town or destination that they haven’t been to before in order to guide them to its highlights.

According to Berenjian, the implementation of innovations such as this will result in an era that is both more realistic and friendlier to the environment.

Berenjian elaborated further, saying that the emergence and rapid growth of AR have made it possible for frequently updated digital material to be superimposed over the physical environment. He believes that there will be many more instances of AR-based solutions in all parts of life.

St. Louis Park and Golden Valley locals were encouraged to test out the service and learn more about their communities by receiving cards from Discover St. Louis Park.
