Lazada, one of the most reputed e-commerce platforms in Southeast Asia, has recently launched a Virtual Try-On experience for users. The brand’s LazMall app features products from brands such as Estee Lauder, M.A.C and Bobbi Brown. Its customers are getting the chance of sampling luxury products instantly with the help of augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI). They can use the app provided by Lazada to view real-time videos and images of themselves with the products applied. As they see how each product looks they can then make a choice in one that suits them the best.
Lazada is utilising the award-winning virtual try-on platform from Perfect Corp from the comfort of their homes to observe different looks after applying a product virtually. The ability to preview particular products through the Estée Lauder, M.A.C. and Bobbi Brown flagship stores of LazMall has improved the shopping experience of users. The Virtual Try-On feature has been active in the app for several months. Prospective shoppers can try on a wide range of products from foundations for different skin tones, based on glosses, mattes and textures, hundreds of lip colours and eye colours, and more, by using the Virtual Try-On.
Interested shoppers can gain an immersive virtual try-on experience with very realistic graphics in real-time. It gives them a very clear idea of what a colour, shape or texture will look like on their faces. This ensures that they get a superior experience than just looking at static pictures of products on online shopping sites. It is a personalised experience that reduces the time it takes to purchase decisions and leads to a boost in the level of customer satisfaction. This is how Lazada is delivering better journeys to its customers and cutting down on the demand for in-store product sampling.
Alice Chang, the CEO and Founder, of Perfect Corp, said that the company looks forward to continuing its efforts of providing augmented reality and artificial intelligence-based solutions to facilitate immersive virtual try-on experiences through its partnership with Lazada. She remarked that the company was excited to help the make-up brand’s customers get better experiences.
The current virtual try-on experience is not the first foray of Lazada into the domain of immersive technology for helping customers. Back in 2019, the application let beauty lovers perform virtual lipstick try-ons through the AR-based selfie camera app Magic Mirror. James Chang, Lazada Group’s Chief Business Officer, spoke about the company’s efforts of making shopping entertaining. He said that the brand will also look forward to associating with other partners for developing and delivering virtual offerings to give South-East Asian customers something special. He also acknowledged the latest partnership through the pilot project, emphasising the company’s drive and intent for providing more such experiences to target customer groups.
Chang emphasised that the new AR/AI offering will enable shoppers to become more engaged whilst selecting products, and hinted that the technology also improved the fun quotient of shopping as customers can share it with others too.
Users can easily access the experience by tapping on the “Try AR” button within the LazMall app to check out products from Estée Lauder, M.A.C. and Bobbi Brown for sampling virtually.
