Walk around Boston to witness over 60 incredible AR fashion designs created by local designers, stylists, and photographers.
Visit the AR runway
Boston Fashion Week is one of the most prestigious events in the world of fashion, and it is taking place right now. If you cannot visit the runway show in person, don’t worry. The organisers have come up with an innovative plan to make you a part of the gorgeous affair. They have launched 62 AR designs across Boston. If you happen to be around the city, you can explore these remarkable AR designs installed in various public locations throughout Boston.
Explore with Hoverly Space
To realise the effort, Boston Fashion Week has partnered up with an AR app called Hoverly Space. Using the app, along with a dedicated map available on Boston Fashion Week’s website, those interested can explore the jaw-dropping designs while simply walking around. Each of the fashion pieces is represented as a unique form of AR art and can be found in different scenic and public locations. You can see them in Harvard Square, Rose Kennedy Greenway, and many other iconic locations in Boston.
Local designers
Each AR fashion piece is exclusively designed by local Boston designers. The crew involves textile artists, accessory designers, illustrators, stylists, makeup artists, hair stylists, models, fashion school students, photographers, historical fashion archives, and many more.
New content
Organisers of Boston Fashion Week have also announced that on each day during the event, new AR fashion content will be made available for public viewing. The event will run through 9th October 2021, and the AR works will be exhibited for another two weeks following the conclusion of the event.
AR and fashion
Jay Calderin, founder of Boston Fashion Week stated that their goal as organisers was to introduce AR to the fashion industry, as well as the general public. Calderin hopes that the endeavour will help both the audience as well as the creators engage productively with the content, and at the same time, realise the potential of augmented reality as a platform for fashion content.
A unique mix
To this end, Boston Fashion Week has reached out to a group of promising local artists to represent this year’s vision. They have put together a team of 43 fashion designers exclusively based in Boston and made a platform to showcase their ideas. Although the designs are created by these designers, in reality, they are a collective effort made possible by a unique mix of fashion professionals combining both established artists as well as newcomers.
Unlock the designs
To give the vision its ultimate form, Boston Fashion Week took the help of Hoverlay who came up with a dedicated map for the event. The map will guide the audience to the 62 designs launched in different parts of the city. Once you reach the location, you can unlock the design by scanning a QR code placed there. The locations were chosen based on their historical significance as well as accessibility.
The AR designs will be on display up to the third week of October. The Hoverly App is available on both Android and iOS.
